CHICKADEE RAINFALL ACRYLICS ON CEDAR W/RED OAK FRAME FALL 2019
The rains have come signaling the changing of the seasons. Summer has ended and it’s time for the autumnal equinox and the beginning of fall. The chickadees are making the adjustments to the cooler nights and shorter days. And, after a very pleasant summer, so too are we. This painting is the fourth installment of my Snapshot Series; a series of small paintings highlighting some of our favorite small birds. I made the frame out of red oak using pegged, hand-joined, mortise-and-tenon construction methods. I used the Japanese technique (shou-sugi-ban) of charring and oiling the oak to finish the frame.
