NUTHATCH & WILD ROSE
ACRYLICS ON CEDAR W/RED OAK FRAME
SPRING 2023

Nuthatches are one of our favorite small birds to watch.  They are so fast as they quickly fly to and from the feeders.  We also like their feistiness and that swagger to take on any foe, large or small.  This small 6 x 6 inch painting is a replacement for an Art Nouveau ceramic tile that was mounted in one of my early Arts & Crafts oak frames.  The tile had separated from the frame, and I felt it was time to “retire” it.  The design for the nuthatch was inspired by both Northwest Coast Native and Celtic art traditions.  The frame for this painting was made out of red oak using pegged, hand-joined, mortise-and-tenon construction methods.   I used Minwax English Chestnut stain to finish the frame.

DIMENSIONS:          HEIGHT:  12 ¾ inches
                                   WIDTH:  13 inches

                                                            PRICE $200
