SKAGIT SCENE Acrylics on Cedar w/Red Oak Frame Spring 2021
ON THE WAY Acrylics on Cedar w/Red Oak Frame Spring 2021
My recent painting SKAGIT LANDSCAPE OF THE MIND II generated these two small "spin-off" paintings. Initially, I wanted to use more colors on SKAGIT LANDSCAPE... but instead decided to allow more of the wood grain to show (meaning fewer colors). So, I made these two small paintings just to satisfy my original intent. The frame for these paintings was made out of red oak using pegged, hand-joined, mortise-and-tenon construction methods. I used the Japanese technique (shou-sugi-ban) of charring and oiling the oak to finish the frames.
